Oscilloscope, RYOT Films and the Museum of Tolerance invite you to a special pre-release screening of:
ON HER SHOULDERS
Thursday, September 27, 2018 7:00pm at the Museum of Tolerance
WINNER Documentary Directing Award Sundance
"A compelling look at the toll activism takes less a portrait of accidental activist Nadia Murad than a sensitive witnessing of the way she has endured life in the public eye, Alexandria Bombach's ON HER SHOULDERS is passionately attentive to the plight of the Yazidis while making broader observations about the call to public service. John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter
Twenty-three-year-old Nadia Murads life is a dizzying array of exhausting undertakingsfrom giving testimony before the U.N. to visiting refugee camps to soul-bearing media interviews and one-on-one meetings with top government officials. With deep compassion and a formal precision and elegance that matches Nadias calm and steely demeanor, filmmaker Alexandria Bombach follows this strong-willed young woman, who survived the 2014 genocide of the Yazidis in Northern Iraq and escaped the hands of ISIS to become a relentless beacon of hope for her people, even when at times she longs to lay aside this monumental burden and simply have an ordinary life.
Q&A with Director Alexandria Bombach and Producer Hayley Pappas following the screening.
This special screening is offered free of charge. Advance RSVP is required. Seating is limited. Register below:
