NEW DATE - A Visit with Louisa May Alcott
THE DATE OF THIS EVENT HAS CHANGED. This event has moved from Thursday, Nov. 29 to Wednesday, Nov. 28
We are sorry for the inconvenience, and hope all of you can still join us for this special event! Jan Turnquist has been called in as a research consultant for Columbia Pictures and must be on set with them November 29th. As a thank you for coming despite the date change, she is sharing special, extra programming with us! Please read below.
On the evening of the Little Women scribe's 186th birthday, join us at the Meeting House for a captivating living history experience that will bring you behind-the-scenes stories from Alcott's life - from her unconventional upbringing in poverty, to the family love that inspired her to write an American classic. This interactive show is presented by the director of Orchard House, the Alcott family's historic home in Concord, Massachusetts, and will be enjoyed by ages 6 to 106. From young readers to Alcott scholars to First Lady Laura Bush, audiences of every stripe have acclaimed Jan's performances.
As an added feature, Jan will share with her audience a "behind-the-scenes" glimpse at her current experience working as a research consultant and extra on the forthcoming (2019) Columbia Pictures version of Little Women, starring Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Timothée Chalamet, Laura Dern, Bob Odenkirk, Chris Cooper, and Meryl Streep.
We hope to still see you all at this amazing living history evening on Wednesday, November 28th at 7:00 PM.
This event has been made possible with funding from the Lowell Institute. Free and open to the public, but registration is requested for an accurate headcount.
