Cuban Blues - CD Launch!
Come join the party at a Toronto landmark venue the Monarch Tavern and celebrate the launch of my new CD recorded in Cuba.
Yuca con Mojo - Cuban Blues CD
Yuca is a Cuban root vegetable that is cooked with a mojo (sauce) for a tasty dish. We went to Cuba and cooked up a new CD using Cuban roots and bluesy sauce!
CD's will be for sale so bring your cash!
The outstanding lineup of musicians includes:
Robert Davis: an acoustic blues guitarist and harmonica player, on the new CD he handles the vocals and harmonica. Robert's new CD was inspired by his deep connections to both the blues and to Cuba.
Fraser Melvin: Played guitar and lap steel on the CD and sings a track as well. Fraser is one of the finest young guitar players in town and he keeps very busy playing in a number of blues, roots and R&B groups such as Bad Luck Woman and her Misfortunes and leading his own group, The Fraser Melvin Band.
Scott Hunter (Bass) Scott plays regularly with such jazz bands as the Denielle Bassels Quintet and performing actively around the city's biggest music venues, as well as participating in festivals and touring across Canada with numerous ensembles.
Jay Danley is a sought after Jazz and Latin multi-instrumentalist musician/composer. His mastery of the Cuban tres guitar has led him to play with many of the legends in Cuban music. In 2009 Jay appeared on Juno winning album Ramblin Son with Julian Fauth. His latest project is The Jay Danley Ethiojazz Project that plays Jays original compositions in the style of Ethiojazz.
Max Senitt is a Toronto based drummer who has more than 30 years of drumming under his belt. Highly in demand on the local and international scene, he maintains a busy freelance career playing a wide range of musical styles with many highly acclaimed Juno and Grammy Award winning artists, including Alex Cuba, Josh Groban, Hilario Duran, Eliana Cuevas, Valeria Matzner, Jay Danley, and Selcuk Suna.
