FiddleJazz: A Celebration of The Violin In Jazz Part 1
Jazz? On the violin??? The violin was hugely important to the development of jazz and African American music at the beginning of the 20th century. The earliest New Orleans bands were often led by violinists, and the violin was there for every major development in the genre. Come hear the music and discover the sounds of the violin in the beginnings of jazz and discover the importance of it's players.
This is the first in a series of THREE concerts in support of Kit Eakle's course "The History of Jazz Violin," at SFU, but The concert is open to the public, and will feature Michale Dunn, guitar and Joe Bourchier, bass along with special guests!
This is the FIRST of 3 concerts on the 3rd Friday of September, October, and November in support of Eakle's History Jazz Violin class at SFU downtown.
