About the Instructor:
A longtime student and graduate of the Playful Peacock Academy, MARANDA WRIGHT brings a fondness for everything burlesque. Maranda found herself seduced by burlesque after several decades of sordid affairs with many classic dance forms. Teaching remains dear to her heart and suits her warm and welcoming nature. Her classes incorporate evidence-based aspects, to increase balance, strength, stability, and awareness.
Maranda is the co-producer of the monthly Capital City Cabaret show, a part of The Peacock Cabaret production team and a member of the Birds of Paradise burlesque troupe. Maranda enjoys performing the gamut from comedic to classic and emceeing. She has been honored to perform on stages across the Twin Cities.
THE PLAYFUL PEACOCK ACADEMY, the first school of its kind in the Twin Cities, was founded by Ophelia Flame and Gina Louise, who have been performing together since 2003 and teaching burlesque workshops since 2005. The belief that there's a bit of showpony in all of us is the drive behind their mission: to teach burlesque technique, performance, and history while encouraging self-expression and body confidence, welcoming students of all levels and backgrounds. The Academy offers performance opportunities, bachelorette parties & special events.
