Richard Yongjae O'Neill is coming to San Francisco Bay Area for his solo recital with Bach, Schubert, and Rachmaninoff's music. The concert will be held at De Anza Visual and Performing Arts Center on October 5th, 2018 at 8 pm.

Praised by the London Times as "ravishing" the New York Times for his "elegant, velvety tone" the Los Angeles Times as "energetic and sassy...exceptional" and Seattle Times as "sublime" VIOLIST RICHARD O'NEILL has distinguished himself as one of the great instrumentalists of his generation. An Emmy Award winner, two-time Grammy nominee, and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, he has achieved recognition and critical acclaim not only as a champion of his instrument but as a social and musical ambassador as well. He has appeared as soloist with the London, Los Angeles, Seoul, and Euro-Asian Philharmonics; the BBC, KBS, Hiroshima and Korean Symphonies; the Moscow, Vienna, and Württemberg Chamber Orchestras; Alte Musik Köln, Kremerata Baltica and Sejong with conductors Andrew Davis, Miguel Harth Bedoya, Vladimir Jurowski, Nicholas McGegan, Eiji Oue, Francois Xavier Roth, Vassily Sinaisky, Leonard Slatkin and Yannick Nezet-Seguin. Highlights of this season include collaborations with Gidon Kremer, concertos with Kremerata Baltica and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, a European tour and complete Beethoven String Quartet cycle with the Ehnes Quartet, and the 10th anniversary of DITTO, his chamber music project and festival in South Korea.

As recitalist he has performed in many of the greatest halls of the world including Carnegie, Alice Tully, Avery Fisher, Kennedy Center, San Francisco's Herbst Theater, Wigmore Hall, Salle Cortot, the Louvre, Madrid's National Concert Hall, Buenos Aires' Teatro Colon, Tokyo's International Forum and Opera City, Osaka Symphony Hall and Seoul Arts Center. An Artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center as well as Principal Violist of Camerata Pacifica he frequently collaborates with the world's greatest musicians including Emanuel Ax, Jeremy Denk, Leon Fleisher, Gidon Kremer, Warren Jones, Garrick Ohlsson, Menahem Pressler, Daniil Trifonov, James Ehnes, Boris Giltburg, Steven Isserlis, Edgar Meyer and The Juilliard, Emerson, Borromeo, Szymanowski String Quartets, among many others. Festival appearances include Marlboro, Aspen, Bridgehampton, Casals, Chamber Music Northwest, Dresden, Great Mountains, La Folle Journée, La Jolla, Mecklenburg, Menlo, Moritzburg, Mostly Mozart, Music Academy of the West, Prussia Cove, Saint Barthélemy, Saratoga, Seattle, and Tongyeong.

A UNIVERSAL/DG recording artist, he has made eight solo albums that have sold more than 200,000 copies and has remained for over a decade one of the best selling South Korean recording artists with multiple platinum disc awards. Dedicated to the music of our time, he has worked with Mario Davidovsky, Jo Kondo, Chris Paul Harman, Matthias Pintscher, Christopher Theofanidis, George Tsontakis, Melinda Wagner, John Zorn, and has premiered works composed for him by Kera Auerbach, Elliott Carter, John Harbison, Huang Ruo, and Paul Chihara. As artistic director of DITTO he has introduced tens of thousands to chamber music in South Korea and Japan: on its first international tour DITTO sold out Tokyo's International Forum and Osaka Symphony Hall.  

The first violist to receive the Artist Diploma from Juilliard, he holds a Bachelors of Music from The USC Thornton School of Music magna cum laude and a Masters from The Juilliard School.  In 2007 he was honored with a Proclamation from the New York City Council for his achievement and contribution to the arts. He serves as Goodwill Ambassador for the Korean Red Cross, The Special Olympics, and UNICEF, runs marathons for charity and serves on the faculty of The Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara.

Celebrated pianist, Robert Cassidy, has received widespread critical acclaim for his performances and recordings of both solo piano repertoire and chamber music. About his eponymous solo recording, the Cleveland Plain Dealers review praised him, remarking, Cassidy demonstrates a keen grasp of varied styles on his new recital disc, which spans three centuries with delicate and expressive sensitivity, savoring the magical atmospheres.
Cassidy has appeared in concert as a soloist and chamber musician in the US, Canada, and Europe; and has been featured on radio stations WFMT in Chicago, WRUW, WCLV and WCPN in Cleveland, WKSU in Kent, Ohio, and WNYC in New York.

A strong promoter of contemporary music, Cassidy has premiered solo and chamber works by the American composers David Noon and Keith Fitch. For eight years, from 2008-2016 Cassidy was the pianist in the Cleveland-based Almeda Trio, with whom he concertized and recorded. He also has performed chamber music with the members of the Cleveland Orchestra, Mari Sato of the Cavani String Quartet, cellist Ani Aznavoorian, and violist, Richard O'Neill.

An extremely active and highly sought-after teacher and chamber music coach, Dr. Cassidy is in demand for master classes, workshops and lectures, private teaching, and adjudication. A former member of the faculty at Cleveland State University, Dr. Cassidy currently teaches at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, and is Director of Piano Chamber Music for Santa Barbara Strings.

We provide music, a collaborative explosion fueled by a community of amazing musicians and critics. SNU (Seoul National University), founded in 1946, is considered to be one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea. Some graduates of SNU College of Music in Northern California started SNUMAA in 1971 where some of the worlds best musicians shared their knowledge and music.
After SNUMAA was founded, we have made significant progress as an organization, not just a music society group, through the Korean American community in the United States. SNUMAA has driven our efforts into the broader realm of music.

Since 2016, we have been inviting magnificent musicians for Virtuoso Series concerts to introduce them to Bay Area's classical music lovers.
