Shadows on the Stars The music of Veljo Tormis & Morten Lauridsen Saturday October 13, 2018, 3pm Sunday October 14, 2018, 3pm
The singers open the 2018-19 season with a concert celebrating ORS past and future. Works by Estonian composer Veljo Tormis honor our long relationship with the composer, who was first invited to the United States by ORS years ago. Celebrating our present and future, ORS performs Mid-Winter Songs and more by world-renowned composer and visiting special guest Morten Lauridsen. The concert marks both the opening of our 45th season and the release of our new album Shadows on the Stars, featuring music by Dr. Lauridsen and other Pacific NW Composers.

WHITE LIGHT Saturday, April 27, 2019, 3pm Sunday, April 28, 2019, 3pm
ORS 45th season closes with a celebration of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, the most performed living composer in the world and another important figure from the choirs history. Describing his work, Pärt famously said, I could compare my music to white light, which contains all colors. Only a prism can divide the colors and make them appear. This prism could be the spirit of the listener. The program includes his Berliner Messe, which was featured on a recording released by ORS in 1993. The singers perform this and Pärts Te Deum with string orchestra, as well as the a capella work The Woman with the Alabaster Box.
