-KING BABY-

Brought together by a love for Old Timey dance, blues, and rag tunes from African-American musicians, King Baby churns out hard driving dance tunes and jelly-legged jug numbers with a variety of instrumentations. Matt Orkin, Nick Bachman, and King Baby himself, Josh Orkin are thrilled to welcome back founding band member Max Ward, of Pittsburgh for this performance. The band plays for square dances and performs regularly in one form or another in the LA area. -PAUL RANGELL & EMILY ABBINK-

Emily Abbink & Paul Rangell play social music from the old world and new. They favor the ballo liscio tunes brought by Italian immigrants to San Francisco, along with the traditional music gleaned from Southwestern fiddlers. The duo performs weekly on mandolin/violin and guitar in cafes, restaurants, markets, and parades in Santa Cruz, CA. They also sharpen their trade with their two sons in the Rhythm Rangellers, a fiddle based band specializing in jigs, stomps, waltzes and bustdowns from New Mexico, Ireland, the American south, Arizona desert, and California. Paul & Emily are founding members of the famous roots band from New Mexico, Bayou Seco, and have performed in Canada, France, England, Burma and Hawaii. -JESSE MILNES & EMILY MILLER-

Jesse Milnes and Emily Miller perform country and old-time music, singing close harmony with Jesse's unique finger-picked guitar style, and a healthy dose of old-time fiddling. Emily was raised playing and singing Louvin Brothers and Stanley Brothers songs with her parents while they traveled the world as journalists. Jesse grew up in the world of West Virginia old-time music, learning from masters like Melvin Wine and Ernie Carpenter. They live in central West Virginia when they are not on the road with their country band, the Sweetback Sisters.
