Lindsay Gonzales is a stand-up comedienne and improvisor from Chicago, Illinois. Lately of Boston, she performed with the ImprovBoston Family Show and co-produced and hosted The Open Comedy Jam and Nightcap at IB for over five years. She performs at theatres and clubs all over Chicago and has also performed comedy in 10 countries including England, France, Spain, Canada and Puerto Rico. Lindsay has performed in festivals such as Impro Mundial Chile, The Women In Comedy Festival, Geek Week and The Boston Improv Festival. She has several one woman shows, and she took her first one woman show "M.P.H.: A Comedy Compendium" to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013. She has recently been a part of Madison Lady Laughs, NCCAF, Chicago Womens Funny Fest and the Chicago Improv Festival.

A chirping cricket, waves lapping on the shore, the wind in the trees, a human heartbeat...Music is all around us wherever we go. Singing was once a huge part of the human community experience: in church, around campfires, weddings, funerals, drunken bar sing-a-longs...in fact scientists think the earliest communication between early hominids was chanting and singing driven by emotion...And thereafter, many MANY thousands of years later, the musical was born: when a character in a musical feels an emotional impulse so strongly that they can no longer speak, then they MUST sing!
Musical Improv is about so much more than how a performer sounds when they sing: it's about finding the truth of the scene and letting it burst forth on stage in musical form, without worrying about pursuing perfection. It is Improv, after all: it's best performed without reservation or judgement. By taking in 100% of the information given by our scene partners we have all the raw material we need to craft the perfect songs to drive the action of our scenes forward. Participants will hone their listening skills to a maximum level and build their confidence with exercises and drills designed to help them get out of their heads and into their hearts and step forward into the spotlight. Tune In is a Musical Improv workshop that will challenge Musical Improv performers from the absolute beginner.
