SWANA Trainings in Composting and Collections in Monterey
The SWANA Gold Rush Chapter will be hosting two SWANA training classes this fall in Monterey.
3-Day Class September 18-20 (Register by Choosing Tuesday, September 18)
Managing Composting Programs course will enable students to appreciate and understand the science and practice of this industry. This course addresses concepts critical to successfully managing composting programs including the rationale for composting, planning and site development, economics, and operations. Managing Composting Programs discusses best practices, emerging technologies, and management issues characteristic of municipal composting programs. The course consists of class lecture, discussion, activities and an optional facility tour. Professionals who manage or would like to manage municipal composting programs; operators of municipal composting programs, consultants or anyone with interest in the field of composting.
2-Day Class September 19-20 (Register by Choosing September Wednesday, September 19)
Managing Collection Systems addresses the collection of residential solid waste and recyclables from single family and multi-family residences. The course provides information that will assist individuals plan, operate and manage residential solid waste and recyclables collection systems. The course includes a discussion of emerging technology and best practices as reported in the literature and practice. SWANA offers Managing Collection Systems as preparation for the Collection Systems certification exam or as a standalone course. This course is intended for collection system owners, operators, managers, system planners, and employees responsible for collection system operations management.
