This class demonstrates the amazing range of printmaking possibilities. Students work with rubber blocks and carving tools to generate three types of impressionsa stenciled print, a relief print, and a plaster castand then to produce a multitude of prints. About the Instructor Ben Beres is a printmaker whose recent work explores images composed of the written word. He writes in reverse using an etching needle on a metal plate, which results in richly textured images. Beres graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA, where he has also taught as adjunct faculty. In addition to being a printmaker, Beres is one-third of the conceptual art trio SuttonBeresCuller. His printmaking artwork is represented by Davidson Gallery. See work by Ben Beres. CREDIT AND CLOCK HOURS SPU uses the quarter system and issues quarter credits. Payment for credit or clock hour fees is paid directly to SPU on the first day of class. Studio classes: $84 for two SPU credits; $40 for twenty clock hours.
