Minuet Class at San Jose Crystal Ballroom
The minuet was an extremely popular ballroom dance in the 18th century. San Francisco based Historical dance researcher and performer Jennifer Meller has studied the extant manuals published by prominent baroque-era dancing masters, and will be teaching historical reconstructions of the 18th century minuet in this fun and informative class.
The minuet is a dance for a couple, but you do not need to bring a partner to the class. Despite what you may have heard about the social mores of the time, the minuet is a rather sensual, flirty and even downright naughty dance form! Come have fun with us.
Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Ballet slippers, jazz shoes or even just socks are appropriate. If wearing heeled shoes, no higher than 2 inches is recommended. Skirts of any length can also be worn and anything that helps you get into the baroque frame of mind!
