Through a captivating display of authentic folk dance and music, Kababayang Pilipino ("KP"), will celebrate the rich and diverse culture of the Philippines with its special 20th anniversary presentation, "Kinabukasan" (New Horizons), as a nod to the future.
"Kinabukasan", literally translated as "tomorrow" will give its audience a fresh look at the beloved folk dances of the Philippines, a country and a culture featuring a broad spectrum of dance styles and influences including indigenous, Arabic-Malayan and Spanish and western vestiges. The presentation will feature perennial audience favourites, including "Singkil" and "Tinikling", and new work will also make its Canadian stage premiere such as dances from the Manobo of Mindanao and the Tagbanua of Palawan. Integral to its presentations, the performances will feature the live accompaniment of KP's own Rondalla and Percussion ensembles.
"Kinabukasan" will prominently feature the future on stage with KP's youth membership with participants ranging from the ages of 5 to 17.
Don't miss out on this must-see performance!
