Classics & Crooners - a B8 Gala

Classics & Crooners combines classic scenes and monologues from some of our favorite plays with a treasure trove of tunes popular from the American Songbook.

You may hear a classic Jerome Kern ballad matched with a scene from a Shakespearean comedy; a witty Rodgers and Hart number paired with Shaw's biting social commentary; a saucy Cole Porter ditty matched with one of Oscar Wilde's comedies of manners - all performed by past and present B8 Ensemble members. You'll love how unexpectedly a song will compliment a scene, as our Master of Ceremonies for the evening introduces each carefully crafted pairing. It's like wine and chocolate, but with songs and scenes!

In addition to scenes and songs, this entertaining, fun- and fund-raising event brings together people from our diverse community to celebrate the performing arts and keep live theatre alive in Concord. The event features hors d'oeuvres, craft beers, and fine wines, plus drawings and a silent auction with fantastic items all courtesy of local restaurants and merchants.
