Puerto Rico Benefit Concert
Hi friends,
We, a collective of Puerto Ricans in the diaspora and allies, invite you to join us for a night of music, dancing, and political education as we build support for two organizations, CETA and CAUCE, who are helping communities across the island rebuild, calling for food sovereignty, and pushing back against the violent economic cuts being imposed on residents.
Puerto Rico Benefit Show featuring: Kimya Dawson, Guayaba, and Ruby Blades Latin Reggae Jazz Quintet Date: June 17th Time: 5-9pm Location: Columbia City Theater
Puerto Rico has experienced one of the worst climate disasters in history with new estimates that almost 5,000 people were killed in the storm and it's aftermath. Puerto Rico is also facing an economic stranglehold as the U.S. government-imposed "Fiscal Control Board" cuts public benefits including lowering the minimum wage, slashing public education budgets, and selling public utilities to private companies.
You can stand with Puerto Ricans who are rebuilding, resisting the impacts of disaster capitalism, and healing together. Will you join us on June 17th?
