Second Annual Clean Lake Union Paddleboard/Kayak Race
Join us for our Second Annual Clean Lake Union Paddleboard and Kayak Race!
UPDATE/REMINDERS!!!
Here are a few reminders for everyone:
Registration begins at 8:30am; Race begins at 9:00am.
Bring your own paddleboard/kayak and gear to participate. If you need equipment, arrangements for rentals can be made in advance through a couple Lake Union rental companies:
oMoss Bay has some paddleboards and double kayaks (accommodates up to two) available to rent the day of the event (opening early at 8AM for CLU). Call in advance at 206-682-2031 to make a reservation. Moss Bay has some limited supply has been set aside free to CLU participants if you let them know, first come/reserve, first serve. https://www.mossbay.co/ A valid drivers license and credit card (for deposit) is needed.
oUrban Surf also has limited paddleboards available to rent. First come/reserve, first serve. They do not open until 10:00am but if you let them know you are with CLU, they will allow you to pick up the board the day prior. This option is not available if you book online so please reach out to them at 206-545-9463 and make reservations through Matt or Robin. https://urbansurf.com/pages/rentals lists their rates if you are interested. A valid drivers license and credit card (for deposit) is needed.
oPlease feel free to use any other vendors you prefer that is more convenient for you. Note that many on Lake Union do not allow for overnight rentals, for them to be taken away from the site or will be closed until 9:00 or 10:00am that morning.
If you are unable to secure a rental using the above or make other arrangements but would like to participate, please let us know by Friday7/13 morning so we can do our best to facilitate. Also, there a swim course option available.
The fun begins on Saturday at 8:30amwell have some delicious snacks, drinks, music, Westwards oysters, sunshine and the lake! See you there early. There are even fun prizes for event winners we have both 1 mile and 3 mile events to accommodate beginners and advanced participants! Parking is available along N. Northlake Way and any boats and paddleboards can be dropped off using the loading zone in front!

Our mission is to remove all pollution from Lake Union by raising funds and awareness to build bioswales (which naturally remove pollutants) at every outfall around the lake. Currently none of these pollutants are prevented from entering the lake, creating heavily polluted waters and harming our native wildlife population.

$50 Registration Fee includes event, shirt, snacks, oysters beer and drinks.
NOTE: Does not include paddleboard or kayak rental - you must arrange for your own. Life vests will be required to participate. Agua Verde and Moss Bay are two recommended rental companies in our area.
Once you've picked up your paddleboard or kayak we will all meet at the race starting point at 2501 N. Northlake Way. There will be an option for a one mile course or a three mile course.
Beer, beverages, and nibbles will be provided after the race, as well as a mini ground breaking for our first bioswale to be built with the funds raised at last year's paddleboard/kayak race!!!
