Concerts in the Courtyard presents Monte Pride and Van Lente
Monte Pride is a Michigan-born, Michigan-based singer-songwriter & fingerstyle guitarist whose songs recall the delicate vocals of Simon & Garfunkel, with guitar-work reminiscent of Nick Drake and The Tallest Man on Earth. He blends haunting melodies with vivid lyricism,
bringing stories of love, loss, and longing to life in a complex array of healing, soul-stirring song.
A Michigan native, Gabrielle Schaub performs under her familys name Van Lente. Accompanying herself with banjo or guitar, she sings original songs that take influence from artists such as Joanna Newsom and Sufjan Stevens. Undulant and celestial, Schaubs songs evoke the willowy wonder her intrepidness has enabled her to witness Ben Evans.
Concerts in the Courtyard is an eclectic series of musical concerts featuring some of the finest musicians in the state and from across the country. All shows are held on Thursday evenings in the great-sounding and beautiful flower-lined courtyard behind the Old Town General Store. Tickets are $15/$9 students and available in advance at the store and at the door. A portion of the proceeds benefit Music is the Foundation, supporting music programs in Mid-Michigan classrooms and communities.
