Normalized Magic: The Art of Writing Through Fairy Tales
LitSpace Literary Arts Institute at Morean Arts Center
Saint Petersburg, FL
Share this event:

Do you love fairy tales, fables, folklore, myths? What about them is so enchanting to us? For so many of us, fairy tales are the first stories we ever hear and thus we closely associate them with our childhoods so how can we bring them into our writing as adults? In this workshop we will discuss what exactly a fairytale is and does, and talk about how the fairy tale as a form can be useful to all writers. Whether you write fantasy fiction, YA, strict literary realism, or even poetry there are lessons inside the technique of the fairy tale that we can all borrow for our creative purposes. After we pinpoint the elements of fairy tales, well play around with some writing exercises to embody their logic and magic inside our own work.
