2018 Stage & Screen Fest
Los Angeles Mission College Theatre is thrilled to again showcase original work by student playwrights, designers, and performers in the 2018 Stage & Screen Fest. Under the direction of Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Robert Cucuzza, the festival features three fully-produced world premiere one-act plays written and created by LA Mission students and, for the first time, a student dance performance. In collaboration with the LA Missions Multimedia program, each performance will feature a dynamic video element.

Performances are May 24-26, Thursday and Friday at 8:00 and Saturday at 2:00 and 8:00 in the AMP Theater in LA Mission Colleges new Arts, Media & Performance building. Additional information can be found at www.lamcstage.com.

Performances include:

HIS WILL by Nathan Williams
In this Southern Gothic dark comedy, the alcoholic family patriarch, Hank, has a vise-grip hold on his daughter, Justine, and her Native American boyfriend, August. Tensions rise when Hank's trashy girlfriend, Iris, enters the picture and soaks him for everything hes worth, setting Hank up for a desperate attempt to hold on to what hes got left.

WHO YOU ARE by Lissette Chavez
This psychological thriller pits a brother and sister against each other over the recent tragic death of their parents. The brother goes missingor does he? The arrival of sketchy friends, a nosy detective, and a harrowing car ride throw this spooky drama into a thrilling and harrowing climax.

CINCINNATIS FREE PRESS by Victoria Pfau
Nationalist fear has been stoked. A divisive politician has been elected. Immigrants are being targeted. Woman are trying to find their place in a brutal world. This is 1917 Cincinnati and the German population is under attack. The past reflects the present in this Suffragette-era newspaper drama that strikes a line across a hundred years of American history.

FORCES OF NATURE choreographed by Carla Lubow with LA Mission College dancers
For the first time, a student dance performance will be part of the Stage & Screen Fest. Dance instructor Carla Lubow will choreograph a company of dancers in a modern dance performance with a dynamic video background.

The 2018 Stage & Screen Fest is created, produced and performed by a company of students who are working under the direction and mentorship of Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts, Robert Cucuzza and adjunct professor of design and stagecraft, Aubree Lynn.
