Concerts in the Courtyard presents Wild Ponies (Doug & Telisha Williams)
Wild Ponies offer dead right, honest songwriting delivered in a hauntingly beautiful yet gritty, neo-traditional Americana wrapper. Released August 25th 2017 on Gearbox Records, their newest release Galax salutes Wild Ponies traditional roots while exploring new, progressive territory. Its an album about the pieces of our past that stick with us, informing our present while pushing us toward a future. An album about a town, a country, and a world thats forever spinning toward something new. An album that redefines Wild Ponies sound, while highlighting influences that have always rested just beneath the surface.
"We'll always be the pinball that bounces between folk, rock & roll and country," says Telisha, and this Old-Time style will always weave its way through everything we do. It's been there from the start, even on the loudest songs we've made. It only took us a couple of days to record it, but this is the album we've been making our whole lives. We just needed the right people and the right songs to finish it.
Concerts in the Courtyard is an eclectic series of musical concerts featuring some of the finest musicians in the state and from across the country. All shows are held on Thursday evenings in the great-sounding and beautiful flower-lined courtyard behind the Old Town General Store. Tickets are $15/$9 students and available in advance at the store and at the door. A portion of the proceeds benefit Music is the Foundation, supporting music programs in Mid-Michigan classrooms and communities. Heres a nice article and interview about our concerts from Eva Niehouse, an MSU student. http://greaterlansingnews.com/2015/04/30/old-town-general-store-takes-the-stage/
