Hello Dancers!
We have the opportunity to dance in a casual studio show on Saturday 5/19 at Bright Star!
Please read this email thoroughly, then fill out the form below ASAP if you'd like to claim a performance spot.
HOW TO CLAIM A SPOT
If you'd like to dance, please fill out the form at the link below to reserve your spot. There will be 16 dance spots available on a first come, first serve basis. You can choose to dance to a live band, recorded music, or not at all. You can be as fancy or as casual as you want. There will also be some open dance time just for fun!
ABOUT THE LIVE MUSIC
The band includes members of the Dark Follies, a group that loves Middle Eastern music, as well as other styles. They have a selection of songs you can choose from, as well as improvised drum solos and/or taqsims. They care very much about helping the dancer have a great performance. If you choose a drum solo or taqsim, you will have an opportunity to discuss rhythms/etc. with the musicians.
ABOUT RECORDED MUSIC
If you would like to dance to recorded music, I will need to receive your music files by email (or Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) no later than Friday 5/11. Max time limit is 4 minutes. However, you must fill out the form much sooner in order to claim your performance spot.
VIDEO
There will be video available and possibly photos. I have yet to work out the details.
SHOW TICKETS
If you do not perform in the show but you want to attend, there will be a reduced ticket fee (lower than for the general public) while spaces remain. We'll also have some open dance time! Performers do not need a ticket.
PERFRMER LOGISTICS
For performers, the studio will remain open following the workshops on Saturday, so you can stay and get ready there, or return to your hotels/etc. Please note that we do not have a functioning shower at the studio.
However, we are really close to a lot of good food options for all different dietary needs. There is a restaurant right downstairs, a juice bar/salad place around the corner, and tons of restaurants with both eat in and to go options within a block or two.
