All in The Timing by David Ives
David Ives timing is perfect in these eleven one act plays focusing on language, wordplay, and existential perspectives on life and meaning. Six actors play the 35 characters in the evenings offering of the best of David Ives. The nights line up includes: Sure Thing: A man and a woman meet for the first time in a cafe, where they have an awkward meeting continually reset each time they say the wrong thing, until, finally, they romantically connect.
Foreplay, or the Art of the Fugue: Three versions of the same mini golf date play out simultaneously with varying results.
Words, Words, Words: Three chimpanzees, named after famous authors and expected to write Hamlet, for the most part waste time engaging in pointless banter, while occasionally inspired to make grandiose literary allusions. English Made Simple: A young man and woman meet at a party, and their immediate romantic attraction is translated into comically unromantic grammar lessons as they struggle to free themselves from the banal constrictions of party talk.
Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread: A post-modern piece where Philip is simply attempting to buy a loaf of bread.
