American song, Latin rhythms, and smooth jazz arrangements create a sophisticated and spellbinding musical experience. The ensembles collaborative process highlights each member as a composer, improviser and arranger. A captivating harpist and songwriter, Amelia Romano creates her own style by blending dynamic rhythms and stellar vocals, producing an intimate and energizing experience that defies tradition. As a composer and arranger, Amelia creates compositions that cleverly experiment with rhythms, tones and textures. Using her harp as a percussion instrument one phrase and moving from that texture to the sound of a bass, the next, she introduces a sentiment that makes the listener re-think the lever harps role in todays music. She is joined by trumpeter Matthew Ebisuzaki and Tim Renner on upright bass. Luminance Ensemble forges each composition from multiple perspectives, passing melodies and improvisation from player to player. This is spirited, creative music from collaborators who encourage each other to push their technical and expressive capabilities. Together, they spark spontaneous improvisation, with contagious rhythms and soulful melodies, as one observed, "to paint a delightful resonance" that transforming each piece into a "beautiful elixir," a new musical whole that is way beyond its elemental parts.
