AN EVENING WITH PAT ROBITAILLE
PAT ROBITAILLE

It started in his bedroom with an 8-track recorder purchased from the local music shop.  Pat was 15 and already his ability to write, record and produce was obvious from the start.  A flood of original material followed, so he shared his home recordings with the store owner. He played songs for customers: one of which a Detroit session drummer.  Thoroughly impressed, he passed the music on to his industry friends.  It wasnt long before Pat was in LA with a major label deal in the works.

But it all felt a little too commercial for him.  Instead he fled to Nashville for a dose of musical reality.  He connected with members of The Muzik Mafia, who at the time were riding on the success of Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson and a slew of other southern country rockers.  The Mafia experience was his music 101 - learning in depth about the music industry; life on the road, the work it takes to succeed, songwriting and everything in-between

He took his newfound knowledge back home to Canada (born and raised in Windsor across the river from Detroit, Michigan) and started releasing music on his own.  He teamed up with an established booking agency and hit the road.  Performing everywhere from run-down coffee shops to massive amphitheatre stages and touring with the likes of The Hip, Beach Boys & Tedeschi Trucks Band.  He sold thousands of records from the back of his van.  He slept on couches and floors, king sized beds and yachts.

In his mid-twenties Pat formed the critically acclaimed soul/rock trio The Walkervilles with his musical hometown pals.  The band (which started as a nod to Motown) rocketed to success after the independent release of their debut album.   They found themselves recording at Willie Neslons Arlyn Studio in Austin, TX and in New York City with acclaimed musical guru Gordon Williams (Commissioner Gordon).  They toured extensively before disbanding in 2016.

Toronto is now home.  He is back to his roots - writing & recording music in his studio.  His new album The Basement Takes (2018) captures these session.  Tour dates available here:

MOE BERG

Moe was born in St. Albert. AB. As a teenager, he formed The Modern Minds with Kim Upright and Bobby Drysdale in the burdgoning Edmonton Punk/New Wave scene. They quickly became a fixture of the local alternative scene and released an obligatory 7 single Theresas World. In the last several years, the single has gained some notoriety and, along with some additional recordings was released as a full length CD The Modern Minds on BASE Records in Japan.

Moe relocated to Toronto and formed The Pursuit of Happiness. After their indie release, Im An Adult Now became an underground hit, the band was signed to Chrysalis Records. Their debut full length, Love Junk was produced by Bergs childhood idol Todd Rundgren and the record launched the band to international attention. TPOH embarked on a year long world tour and then settled in with Rundgren to record their follow up, One-Sided Story. After more touring, the band followed Chrysalis label head, Mike Bone to Mercury Records and released their third album, The Downward Road. The band released two more studio records, Wheres The Bone and The Wonderful World of The Pursuit Of Happiness. Two greatest hits compliations followed, a US selection on Razor And Ties called Sex And Food in 2000 and When We Ruled in 2005 on EMI Canada. A full length concert, The Pursuit of Happiness Live In Concert was released in 2005.

A collection of Moes short stories, The Green Room was published in 2000.

Moe has also recorded soundtrack music for Fuzz and Getting In and recorded and performed music for the WB/Clear Channel production of Scooby Doo.

He currently works as a producer and songwriter and teaches music production part time at Music Industry Arts.
