The Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC) was established by the Commonwealth in 1983 to ensure that low-income people with critical non-criminal legal problems would have access to legal information, advice and representation. MLAC is the largest funding source for civil legal aid programs in Massachusetts.
This year, as we celebrate 35 years of supporting civil legal aid programs, we honor our founding Executive Director, Lonnie Powers, who will be retiring in August. Proceeds from the gala will benefit the Lonnie Powers Innovation Fund at MLAC, which will support projects that increase access to legal information and that utilize new technologies and creative models of service delivery to meet the evolving needs of low-income people across the Commonwealth.
The gala will take place at Morgan Lewis, on the 13th floor of One Federal Street in Boston. There will be a check-in desk for the event in the building's lobby. There will not be paper tickets for the event. Once you register below, you will only need to provide your name at the check-in desk. Note: Alcoholic beverages will be served at this event; we recommend that all guests bring photo ID.
We are pleased to welcome legal services staff, law students, and client board members as our guests at the gala. We ask that guests eligible for free tickets still register for the event, as that will help us estimate event attendance.
