Jonathan Karrant
Critically acclaimed singer Jonathan Karrant returns to Michael Holmes' Purple Room on June 9th to celebrate not only some of his favorite songs ever written but also his birthday. Jonathan always bring new material to the stage however, for this show he brings all new songs and arrangements to perform. Selections include timeless songs from the American Songbook, such as Cole Porter songs (as Jonathan shares the same birthday as Porter) and fresh jazzy arrangements of pop songs that Jonathan has always wanted to perform. Come celebrate with this soulful crooner who brings charm, wit and laugher with him everywhere he goes.
Jonathan Karrant's album, On and On hit #4 on jazz charts. He has received honors throughout the states including; the 2014 New York City Jazz Cabaret Honors and, in 2015, he was voted Best Singer for the Bravo California Awards. In 2016, Jonathan was named one of the top 12 rising jazz vocalists in New York.
A voice, romantic without being cloying, warm but not forced, Karrant carries these songs with an emotional weight that make it seem at times as if he had written them himself.
