This will be an amazing night of music! Liam OConnor, one of Irelands leading fiddle players, was born into a musical family in Dublin. His father Mick OConnor is a flute player and researcher of music who was a founder member of the Castle Céilí Band. During his youth, Liam was taught by Séamus Glackin and won several All-Ireland and Oireachtas fiddle titles. He was awarded TG4 Young Musician of the Year in 2002. He has performed as a soloist and in duets with the late Liam OFlynn, Noel Hill and Harry Bradley among others.
His new CD is receiving rave reviews deservedly and I have been playing it a lot on A Celtic Sojourn. John Blake is a multi-instrumentalist, and a force in his own right in traditional music. Check them out together below as they play a brilliant set of tunes in the Ferryman pub in Dublin. Wow!
