The Outside Track, with Bach Project
Seriously, one of my favorite bands. They played with us as part of our St. Patrick's Day Celtic Sojourn a few years back and just blew away our audiences.

THE OUTSIDE TRACK is made up of members from Canada, Ireland and Scotland and features a marriage of Celtic music, song and dance encompassing styles from all of those areas and more. They have performed for major festivals and events all over Canada, the US, and Europe to great acclaim. Mairi Rankin of course has that famous Cape Breton name, Ailie Robertson and Fiona Black are from Scotland, and Teresa Horgan lives in Dingle Co. Kerry. Quite and extraordinary, sophisticated, and adventurous group indeed.

Check them out below: A gorgeous rendition of Get Me Through December which is a contemporary written to a well known Scottish tune from Neil Gow...

A really interesting opening set of pieces.  Bach Project:
A performance of three pieces shared by three cellists, each movement is played by a fresh voice. The Bach Project is a group of cellists bringing together the old traditions of music into new venues for classical music. Performing three of the Bach Suites, the cellist divide up the movements of each suite to show the different approach to how one can play Bach. Created by cellists McKinley James, Benjamin Fryxell, and Ariel Friedman.

The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the most sought-after boutique series of trad presentation in the world.  It has already created already dozens of memorable, intimate, informal presentations held in a truly atmospheric space which was founded by well-known traditional musicians Tommy McCarthy and Louise Costello in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts.

Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music.  As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.

Tickets are $23 in advance, with a $5 discount for WGBH Members.  If you are a member, send an e-mail to celtic@wgbh.org and we will send you the code.

Seating is VERY limited and these events have been selling out, so get your tickets today!
