Arooj Aftab is an internationally acclaimed Sufi musician, vocalist and songwriter who skillfully re-imagines indigenous soul with a modern sound. Aftab layers dynamic vocals over acoustic instrumentation and presents original music that pays homage to classical Sufi legends, neo-soul and jazz icons, and contemporary world musicians.
Arooj's newest release, 'Bird Under Water,' mixes dark post-pop with mystic muse. It is a masterful expression of lyrical and acoustic soul, tripped out through analog voltage and experimental digital filters.
