EDEN Inc's Rent Party 2018
A rent party (sometimes called a house party) was a social occasion originating in Harlem during the 1920s, which played a major role in the development of jazz and blues music.  Tenants hired a musician or band to play popular music while they passed a hat to raise money to pay their rent.

Tenants in Harlem during the 1920s and 1930s faced discriminatory rental rates. This, along with the generally lower salaries for African American workers, created a situation in which many people were short of rent money. These parties were originally meant to bridge that gap.

EDEN has been bridging the gap since 1991 by providing vulnerable populations with housing and rental assistance.  EDEN currently serves over 3,000 households each month.

EDEN will be hosting a rent party on Saturday June 2, 2018, and it is sure to be the bees knees!

Theme: Roaring 20s Rent Party(Flapper attire encouraged!)
Music: Jazz, blues, Roaring 20s music, and current dance hits
Food: Themed food stations
