Is an enlightened society possible? How can we create a new way of living together in a time when the future of humanity and the planet Earth are in the balance?
Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, recognized global leader in peace initiatives and author, will share his teachings and guide an inspiring and moving contemplation on these challenging questions about the future of our society.
The Friday Night Talk is the opening to a weekend-long program convened by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and hosted by The Shambhala Meditation Center in Chicago. (Note that this event will take place at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel located at the University of Chicago, 5850 South Woodlawn Avenue, Chicago, IL 60637).
The program continues through the weekend at Malcolm X Community College with broader conversations and reflection on fostering peace at the individual, community and societal levels. Saturday's program will feature a Youth Congress on Peace engaging a broad spectrum of young people, youth organizing groups with civic and community leaders, in thoughtful dialogue around the growing issue of youth violence. Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche will lead the closing program on Sunday with teachings and meditations focused on the principles of Shambhala basic goodness, warriorship, genuine-heartedness and compassion.
