Reading to Write
LitSpace Literary Arts Institute at Morean Arts Center
Saint Petersburg, FL
Share this event:

Writers have long learned about writing by reading other writers studying their sentences, their rhythms, their use of image or characterization. But writers read other things, too, from the mood of a room to the tone of a beloved's voice. This is a workshop on developing reading skills, so you can read with more focus and wonder. We'll reflect on ourselves as readers, close read some short texts, and practice reading the world writ large. All genres welcome!

About the Instructor:
Teresa Carmody is the author of Maison Femme: a fiction (2015) and Requiem (2005). Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in St. Petersburg Review, Diagram, The Collagist, Two Serious Ladies, Entropy, and more. Carmody is a co-founding editor of Les Figues Press, an imprint of LARB Books in Los Angeles, and the director of Stetson University's MFA of the Americas.

Saturday, March 31 (1:00pm-3:00pm).
