Fortune's Fool Theatre will produce the regional premiere of Caryl Churchill's masterpiece THE SKRIKER. This 1994 play, produced professionally only twice in North America, will feature an immersive staging, a cast of 17, and original music by Twin Cities composer Keith Hovis. It will be performed at the Crane Theatre in NE Minneapolis from April 7-22, 2018.
"WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T OPEN THE DO DON'T OPEN THE DOOR." The Skriker is an ailing, malevolent shape-shifting fairy and death portent from the underworld. In its search for love and revenge, it pursues two young women in London --- Josie, who has murdered her young child, and Lily, who is pregnant --- changing its shape at every new encounter. A wild chorus of dancing, pounding, wailing spirits, drawn from English folk tales, serve the Skriker, surrounding both the girls and, at times, the audience. Epic, harrowing, and a blend of the personal and the political, as with every Churchill play.
