Aidan Connolly, Deirdre Winrow and Be Off" with Dana Lyn and Kyle Sanna
This is going to be some night of virtuosic playing.  Maybe you know these players already, but if you don't, this is one of those shows where I say COME ON OUT!   You wont regret it.  The chops on these musicians in their respective line-ups and individually; phenomenal.  They are two separate groups, but at The Burren, anything goes, and the mind boggles at the thought of them doing  a tune or two together.

Dana Lyn and Kyle Sanna connect the dots between their experience as composers and improvisers in New York City's rich musical community and their deep admiration for traditional Irish music. The duo has collaborated with some of the greatest living interpreters of Irish music, including Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill, Cillian Vallely, Kevin Burke, and Susan McKeown. Take a look/listen here....

''Be Off is an eclectic mix of young musicians from Ireland spearheaded by Aidan Connelly, a Dublin based fiddle player with close ties to counties Kerry and Mayo, whose influence feature prominently in his unique musical style. Joining him is box player Liam McGonigle from Mayo, flute player Pauric Bannon from Cavan and fiddle player Deirdre Winrow, originally from Boston, now living in Ireland.

A loosely knit grouping of long-time musical friends, the name Be Off comes from the title track of Aidans CD. Each track features unique collaborations involving music derived from archival sources. This CD is a celebration of all their shared passion for the ''pure drop'' in traditional Irish music.''

The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the most sought-after boutique series of trad presentation in the world.  It has already created already dozens of memorable, intimate, informal presentations held in a truly atmospheric space which was founded by well-known traditional musicians Tommy McCarthy and Louise Costello in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts.

Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music.  As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.

Ticket prices vary and there is a $5 discount for WGBH Members.  If you are a member, send an e-mail to celtic@wgbh.org and we will send you the code.
