Since the early 1900s, Jewish composers have sought to bring their original compositions and folksong arrangements to the concert stage. We'll explore how they realized their intentions over a hundred years ago and how art music figures into the current era of the Yiddish renaissance. Hankus Netsky is the founder and director of the Klezmer Conservatory Band and co-chair of the Contemporary Improvisation Department at the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts.|
