About Me

My name is Dom Gervasi and I'm a native Brooklynite from Bensonhurst. I started Made in Brooklyn Tours back in 2011 after a career in high tech working for communications equipment manufacturers. Inspired by the makers I discover on my travels abroad, I make it my business to seek out who's "makin' it" right here in Brooklyn. My tours feature local artists, artisans and crafters and honor the innovators of Brooklyn's Industrial Revolution. I personally lead all Made in Brooklyn Tours and am a bonafide licensed New York City Sightseeing Guide. I'm also a supporter of the Impact Travel Alliance whose mission is to educate and advocate for sustainable tourism.

FAQ

Are these food or beverage tours?

Strictly speaking, the Made in Brooklyn Drive is not a culinary tour though there may be tasting opportunities. However, we do break at an old school hero joint (with vegetarian options). Food and drinks are not included in the ticket price and alcohol is strictly prohibited while in the vehicle or walking.

May I shop on the tour?

Absolutely! Guests are not discouraged from shopping for Made in Brooklyn souvenirs if it doesn't take too long. Shopping is just one of the ways we engage with the makers we'll visit.

What kind of vehicle is our ride?

We ride in style in a comfortable van or minibus heated when cold and air conditioned when warm. It is NOT a huge double decker coach bus. Seating is on a first come first serve basis.

How long is the tour? How much walking do we do?

The tour lasts about 4.5 hours. We leave the vehicle several times to "see who's makin' it in Brooklyn," to go sightseeing and do a little walking.

Is the tour appropriate for children?

The Made in Brooklyn Drive is designed for adults and children 8 years and older.

Are tours offered in languages other than English?

While the tour is English only that hasn't stopped visitors from around the world from having a good time!

What should I wear? What should I bring?

Dress appropriately for the weather, wear comfortable footwear and bring something to drink!

Are tips accepted?

Gratuities aren't included in the ticket price, but are greatly appreciated!

Can I get there by car?

Driving to the tour is not recommended. Traffic is heavy, there's no street parking, and we don't end where we start.

Where exactly do we go?

The itinerary and route varies and no two tours are the same.

Where do we end?

We end in DUMBO by the NYC Ferry landing not far from the A, C and F subway lines.

Are there restrooms on the tour?

Please use the restroom before we start. Restrooms are available at different points along the way. If you need one, please go when we arrive at a place where one is available. Sorry, but the vehicle is not fitted with a bathroom.

Are tours wheelchair and stroller accessible?

Unfortunately, the tour is difficult to navigate with a wheelchair or stroller.

Can I bring luggage or a stroller?

Sorry, but there is limited storage space onboard and room for luggage or strollers is not guaranteed.

Can I bring a pet?

Unfortunately, pets are not permitted on the tour.

Can I book a private or group tour?

While private tours are available most prefer a public tour where there's an opportunity to meet people from other places and other walks of life. Public tours are also less expensive. Click here to Make a Special Request.
