MJFF CELEBRATES THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF LEONARD BERNSTEIN. In 1984 legendary composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein gathered together a group of leading opera singers to embark on a remarkable project. Bernstein, along with Kiri Te Kanawa, Jose Carreras and others set out to record the entire score of West Side Story. This intimate film takes us on their journey while giving us a front row seat to the creative process. Featuring beautiful performances and rare access, the Making of West Side Story is a revealing and insightful film that will delight music lovers and devotees of this great classic.

Emily Isaacson, Director of the Oratorio Chorale, will lead a discussion following the film.

The Bernstein celebration continues on Saturday March 17 at 11 AM with West Side Story at the PMA featuring the Portland Gay Men's Chorus.

Tickets at the door will be $12 and $10 and will be sold the day of the event one half hour before the film start time subject to availability.
