Documentary/Israel/ 2017/ ISL (Israeli Sign Language and Hebrew with English ST)/ 75 min

Raising you is like raising 3 kids, the deaf child El-Ad was told by his beloved mother years before her tragic death deepened his alienation from his hearing family. A gay man, he becomes a father through shared parenting with his best friend, a deaf woman, supported by their community of deaf friends. How will his deafness affect his role as a parent? El-Ad must create his life without a road map. This film follows El-Ad over several years as, with intimacy and honesty, he explores family, fatherhood and identity

Members of deaf and hearing communities encouraged to attend. Post-film discussion with a panel led by Roxanne Baker, lifelong member of the Portland deaf community.
