Corvallils-Gondar Walk for Water
In Ethiopia most families in rural areas have no access to clean water. Many people, mostly girls and women, have to walk long distances to obtain water for their families. In Ethiopia the average distance to water is about 5 kilometers. Many girls cannot go to school because they spend so much time getting water.
The Corvallis-Gondar Sister Cities Association organizes the annual 5K Walk for Water to help raise funds to provide drinking water for people in our Sister City Gondar, Ethiopia. All proceeds raised from the annual Walk for Water go directly toward costs to construct wells for people in Gondar, Ethiopia.
In 2018 we are raising money to build our 21st well in the rural area outside of Gondar city.
In addition to the 5K walk activities will include children's activities, Ethiopian music, a "Market Village" with vendors, information booths, and Ethiopian food.
+ 8:30am - Check-in or register + 9:30am - 5K walk begins + 10:00 am to 1:00 pm - "Market Village"
If you can walk 5K you can help and Ethiopian family get clean drinking water.
