MJFF HEATHER BOOTH 3-14 6:00 PM NICKELODEON
HEATHER BOOTH: Changing the World Wed 3-14 6:00 PM NICKELODEON

Documentary / Dir: Lilly Rivlin / USA / 2017 / 60 min

At a time when many are wondering how to make their voices heard, this captivating documentary, a tribute to Heather Booth, examines how social change really happens. From registering Black Mississippians to vote in the 1960s to advocating for affordable childcare for working parents, Booth has been on the front lines of social activism.  Looking at her life, work and relationships with leaders like Julian Bond and Elizabeth Warren, the film reveals Booths remarkable legacy in progressive politics, organizing and empowering each of us to create change.

Heather Booth had expected to be able to join this screening but as some of you may know, Heather's beloved husband (also featured in the film) died about 1 month ago. Heather had been excited to come to the Maine screening and be part of the discussion with the audience, but feels she is not yet up to this trip, so she will not be coming. She is very sorry and still encourages all of us to continue organizing to change the world.
