One of the most important showcases for student work in the Theater Department is the annual Cornish Winter New Works Festival, in which plays written by Theater seniors are given developmental workshops modeled on play development processes in professional theaters. Students submit excerpts of their work, which are reviewed by a committee of directors and dramaturgs, facilitated by Theater faculty member Elizabeth Heffron. |
The committee chooses three plays. The chosen plays are cast with Theater students and presented in rehearsed readings in the Alhadeff Studio Theater in February. Each play has a three-week process: a week of rehearsal; an interim week for the playwright to do rewrites as indicated; and then another week of rehearsal, capped by two public readings.
Worlds collide in this pressure-cooker comedy at a 24-hour Midwestern diner, as seven souls trek through a night of secrets, tension, violence, and more eggs than any one person could eat in a night.
