** SOLD OUT **
Get the kiddos out of the house for this fun and interactive two hour workshop. Cabin Fever includes four separate units teaching basic cooking skills, nutritious eating habits, where food comes from, and the important mission of the Chester County Food Bank. Units include:
* Pancakes!: Participants will learn how to make simple pancakes (we can accommodate gluten free). We will also have a demonstration of maple syrup production.
* Ugly Veggies and Freaky Fruits: Get hands on with locally grown, seasonal veggies in 3 ways - juicing, smoothies and soup. Kids will also see a bee hive in action and learn the importance of saving our honey bees.
* Powerful Proteins - Kids will make easy quesadillas while discussing why protein is important and learn about different sources for protein.
* What does the Food Bank do? We'll discuss the importance of the Food Bank in our community, how to get involved and we'll color some kindness for our Senior Box program.
The cookbook, "Cooking Class" by Deanna F. Cook, will be featured. The Wellington Square Bookshop will have copies available for purchase after the workshop. This is a fantastic cookbook for aspiring young chefs with practical information presented in a playful and engaging text.
In Partnership with Growing Roots. ALL Proceeds benefit the Chester County Food Bank. Many thanks to nutrition students from West Chester University and nutrition intern from Immaculata University.
