Singing and Dancing like NYC - A Ghostlight Rep Workshop
This workshop includes an hour and a half dance workshop with broadway's Sara Edwards and an hour and a half singing workshop with New York City's Kurt Robinson. Following both workshops will be a talkback session with both Sara and Kurt.
Sara Edwards is currently Dance Captain in the new Broadway MusicalChaplin at the Barrymore Theater. Last season she was Dance Captain and swing in Follies starring Bernadette Peters, both choreographed by Warren Carlyle. Recently, she assisted Mr. Carlyle in his critically acclaimed Cotton Club Parade at New York City Center. Saraalso appeared in the 2009 Broadway production of Irving Berlin's White Christmas choreographed by Randy Skinner.
Sara's other New York credits include No, No, Nanette and Of Thee I Sing at ENCORES!, both choreographed by Randy Skinner. Regional credits include: Turn of the Century(directed by Tommy Tune) at the Goodman Theater, West Side Story (directed and choreographed by Josh Bergasse) at North Carolina Theater, Music Theater of Wichita, Sacramento Music Circus, Atlanta TOTS, North Shore MT, Lyric of Oklahoma, and more.
Kurt Robinson has received national and international acclaim for his work in pop, broadway, sacred, and recital settings. Said to posses a "warmth, vitality, and free expressiveness in his tone," he has moved audiences with his interpretations of the classical and theatrical repertoire.
Kurt's clientele have enjoyed thriving lead performances in some of the hottest Broadway productions and national tours, including Rent, Bonnie and Clyde, Newsies, Spider Man, American Idiot, Rock of Ages, The Addams Family Musical, Billy Elliot, In the Heights, Hair, Spring Awakening, The Color Purple, Hairspray, Wicked, The Lion King, Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, Phantom of the Opera, Dream Girls, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, A Chorus Line, Producers, Chicago, Spamalot, the Radio City Rockettes, and more. He has coached recording artists for the Columbia Artists, Jive, Def Jam, Epic, Atlantic, and Nickelodeon labels.
Kurt maintains a private studio in New York City and works regularly with students across the United States, in L.A., in Europe, and in Japan. He was on faculty at the Broadway Dance Center in New York for 8 years, during which time he served as music director and vocal adviser to SMASH choreographer Josh Bergasse. Kurt is a headlining vocal coach for MSA Talent Agency NYC. He teaches master workshops for the Jikei Group Music Conservatories in Tokyo, Japan. He holds a Master's in Vocal Performance from Manhattan School of Music.
