sinking & swimming

Saturday, Feb. 24
7-10ish pm
$25, includes dinner and nonalcoholic drinks! (But BYOB)

We the Oddsisters welcome you to the second installment of our house-variety-saloon, The Flaming Regatta.

Our saloons present two featured acts plus a handful of very short pieces by artists trying something new or releasing something they've never released. Dinner is provided at the beginning of the evening and dessert proffered midway through.

We're fiercely devoted to practically and creatively supporting Charlottesville-based artists' work across disciplines and providing an intimate, inspiring environment for experimentation. Our first edition, The Rabid Parabola, knocked our socks off. We are excited by the possibility of connecting artists to new audiences and to each other--for there to be joyful intermingling.

Come promptly at 7 to eat.

ADDRESS: 1725 Chesapeake St.
PARKING: There is limited parking on Chesapeake by my house. We suggest parking anywhere you can find space along E. Market or Chesapeake, or at Riverview Park which is several blocks down from my house.

p.s. There is very limited space so we recommend getting your tickets sooner rather than later. Click on the button below to purchase tickets and get more detail.

ABOUT DIANE CLUCK

"She made me rethink my singing instincts. Diane is not just an amazing and interesting singer, shes a philosopher." -Sharon Van Etten

"She is likely one of the most refined and elegant songwriters in all of neo-folkdom. A brilliant idiosyncratic guitarist, a witty and wise lyricist, an imaginative melody writer with a powerful voice; her dark and introspective tunes are utterly captivating. Watch her spellbind the room." -Village Voice, NYC

"An unlikely mix of Aaron Neville, the Baka people, and Joni Mitchell, Clucks singing is unaffected yet unusual." -NPR

Diane Cluck is a singer-songwriter of intuitive folk music based in Charlottesville, Virginia. She tours the US, UK and Europe, employing singing as a healing, textural experience in which audiences may wander, ponder, or simply be.

She accompanies herself on various instruments including guitar, piano, harmonium, zither, and a copper pipe instrument she built by hand. Time Out New York cited her as a brilliant idiosyncratic guitarist.

Diane released her seventh album Boneset through Important Records, featuring cellist Isabel Castellvi and drummer Anders Griffen. The album and singles received the distinction of premiering through NPRs First Listen, All Songs Considered and Tiny Desk Concert series.

She contributed to New Yorks burgeoning Antifolk scene in the early 2000s. Since then, singer-songwriters Laura Marling, Florence Welch (of Florence And The Machine), and Sharon Van Etten have cited Dianes work as influential.
