Boston-based African style band AIR CONGO play music from the 1960s-70s Kinshasa/Brazzaville scenethe music of Docteur Nico, Tabu Ley, Les Bantous De La Capitale, Franco et lOrch TPOK Jazz, and more! Drawing inspiration from the instrumental sessions that Tabu Leys band Afrisa recorded to be played on the jets of Congo Air, our instrumental readings of this amazing music are upbeat dance ravers of another age.
Ghetto People Band has been in existence since 2007. They have been solid as a rock, weaving the musical vibes and harmonies for at least 7+ years together. The Drum and Bass section have been together for over 17 years, collaborating on many musical journeys together, and supporting each other's projects and productions. They have been the corner stone of this group, and previous one's before.
The name came together when they all realized that music is from the people that play it, so coming together is the theme for the Ghetto People Band. It simple refers to: 'Getting together as people and musicians, playing the music as it was meant to be played, and being happy doing it." So, thus, 'Ghetto People' was born.
