In The Rush of Liquids Rich Basins: Some Permian Basin Case Histories
ABSTRACT: Presented will be Permian Basin case histories on the effects and consequences of not conducting enough research, not gathering enough data, or not taking enough time to thoroughly analyze and evaluate results. In the headlong rush to capture and hold land positions, closeology and follow-the leader practices can overtake sound methodology in geoscience, engineering, and business.
Speaker: Billy W. Harris- Owner, Lodestone Oil and Gas Consulting, LLC
BIO: Billy W. Harris has worked internationally and domestically in various roles and capacities in drilling, completion, and production operations, reservoir engineering, property valuation, and as an expert witness. He began his career in Midland for Conoco in 1978. Beginning in 1990, he worked for 23 years for Wagner & Brown, Ltd. as Senior Petroleum Engineer, where much of his work has focused on tight gas and tight oil plays. He currently is in charge of engineering for Seguro Oil and Gas, LLC. of Midland, Texas.
Mr. Harris was a Director on the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International Board from 2008 2011, representing the southwestern region of the United States, where he served on the Board Committee on Finance & Administration and chaired the Board Committee on Education and Professional Activities. He chaired or co-chaired the SPEI Liquids-Rich Basins Conference for five years. Mr. Harris received a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and is an adjunct professor for New Mexico Institute of Technology.
