Sista Monica's "Acoustic Honey"
Sista Monica Parker performs a rare unplugged concert of "Acoustic Honey" at Piedmont Piano 1728 San Pablo Oakland,California. Saturday at 8:00 p.m. February 2, 2013. This performance will include originals and popular songs of love songs, roots, blues, jazz and gospel music. Joining her in this special concert is a four piece band of recording musicians featuring her 19 year veteran piano player and co-writer - Danny "B" Beconcini a studier of Gene Harris. He will stretch out on a grand piano. Ruth Davies from the Elvin Bishop and late Charles Brown band will be on acoustic -standup bass, Leon Joyce Jr. on drums previously from The Ramsey Lewis Trio, and Danny Sandoval a master on tenor saxophone.
An award winning singer/songwriter and performer, Parker started her professional career in Santa Cruz in 1992. Since then, she has travelled and toured worldwide and has been recognized for her captivating stage presence and rich contralto vocal power. Her 11th CD release "Living In the Danger Zone" recently earned a BMA nomination for "Best Soul Blues Female Artist of the Year 2013" by the Blues Foundation. Voting takes place at www.blues.org. Born in Gary, Indiana, Monica developed her vocal chops between Chicago and Detroit singing in church choirs and listening to singers on the city streets.
