"Always...Patsy Cline" starring Kaija Bonde and Jill Johnson. The musical that wowed audiences for nearly 10 years across the upper Midwest is back for a limited run! Don't miss the show The Sioux Falls Argus Leader called "an uncanny, spine tingling performance"!
"Always . . . Patsy Cline", written by Ted Swindley, is a tribute to the legendary country singer who tragically died at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story about Cline's friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in 1961 and continued a unique pen-pal relationship with Cline until her death. The show's title was inspired by Cline's letters to Seger, in which she always closed with, "Love Always . . . Patsy Cline."
The musical, complete with down-home country humor, true emotion, and even some audience participation, includes many of Cline's unforgettable hits including "Crazy," "I Fall to Pieces," "Sweet Dreams," and "Walking After Midnight" . . . 27 songs in all, performed by Kaija Bonde, who The Sioux City Journal called "so Patsy-like you'll swear she's channeling Cline, not just playing her." Featuring Jill Johnson recreating her memorable role of Louise Seger. Jill was a fan favorite for many years and she's thrilled to be back!
A toe-tapping six piece band, under the direction of Boyd Bristow and featuring some premiere South Dakota musicians, provides the perfect back drop for Cline's unforgettable sound. With Larry Rohrer on bass, Owen DeJong on fiddle, Fred Evans on drums, Harry Wood on steel guitar, Boyd Bristow on lead guitar and Gail Tallaksen on piano.
