Forgotten Carols: Dumfries
The hugely popular Feral Choir is performing in Dumfries, bringing to life songs and stories that have been handed down through the generations.
Forgotten Carols will be performed in Dumfries Museum on Sunday 17th December and will include a mediaeval version of The Holly and the Ivy and a tale of Robin Redbreast written by Robert Burns sister.
Some of the stories behind the carols and songs are extraordinary. Alison Burns has composed music for a carol written for a Sunday Times competition in the 1940s, as well as discovering songs from the pub carol singing tradition in the Peak District.
People who come along to hear the concert will hear a real variety of music that comes together to lead us to the turn of the year. Many of the themes that link them are still relevant today and are a nod to whats happening in the world.
The choir is joined by reader Tom Pow, soloist Polly Bolton and harpist Irene Watt.
