Through a deep exploration of August Wilson's Century Cycle led by actor Bill Nunn, the young ATC artists have created The August Wilson Project. This evening will feature selections from August Wilson's plays, delivered by ATC through honest and insightful performances. This brilliant material will be further highlighted by music, vocal performances and choreography that enrich the themes of the selections.
About August Wilson: August Wilson's Century Cycle is an achievement in American theatre. Wilson wrote ten plays that are set in Pittsburgh, each in a different decade of the twentieth century. At the core of each work are soaring, lyrical monologues that take the song, laughter, pain, and rich content of African American life and place it in the mouths of a great and varied ensemble of characters.
About Alumni Theater Company: The mission of the Alumni Theater Company (ATC) is to create work that represents the perspective of young artists growing up in an urban environment. ATC's body of work strives to capture the ideas, interests, and struggles of the current generation of teenagers. ATC provides quality performing arts training for talented, committed youth in grades 6-12 in a highly creative, challenging and supportive setting. Now a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, ATC is currently in its fifth season of operation and has presented twenty-two productions since its inception.
